Jackie

I found yoga in my early 20’s as a way of dealing with chronic stress. Since then the practice of yoga has supported me through many ups and downs, including my journey through breast cancer treatment and recovery.

I’ve enjoyed teaching yoga for over 20 years, and following intense training, became a  CNHC registered Yoga Therapist in 2016. I am now a Tutor for Real Yoga, and a course assessor for the British Council for Yoga Therapy (BCYT).

Training as a Yoga Therapist has given me the knowledge and skills to enable me to support clients with a variety of health concerns, with personalised yoga practices.

I continue to offer small group yoga classes, where we explore a variety of yoga tools and practices, combining traditional and modern approaches. My approach is gentle, considered, and inclusive, as I believe anybody can practice yoga, if they so wish.

I live in Ringwood on the edge of the New Forest, with my family and two cats; and enjoy making my own bread, walking in nature, and gardening.

Whole Yoga Wellness

There are many challenges that we may face during our lifetime, but how we are able to face those challenges can make a huge difference to how they impact on our health and wellbeing.

When we glide through life, we are more likely to feel happy, confident and whole, and we overcome challenges more easily. When life gets the better of us we may feel overwhelmed, anxious, or stressed.

Being diagnosed with a chronic illness, recovering from medical treatment or injury, or facing major life events, can impact on every aspect of our lives. Yoga recognises this inter-relationship between the physical, energetic, mental and emotional, and spiritual aspects of ourselves.

We are all individual, and how an illness or life event affects us may be very different from someone else. Yoga Therapy recognises this individuality, and that each of us has our own experiences and health needs.

Yoga Therapy is an holistic therapy, which draws upon the many tools and techniques of yoga, tailoring them specifically to each persons wellness goals.

What is the difference between a Yoga class and Yoga Therapy?

A yoga class is a general approach to yoga, where a teacher is trained to teach yoga postures and practices to a whole group. A good yoga teacher will also include options and variations to enable the practices to be inclusive.

Yoga Therapy is an holistic therapy, which can work alongside conventional medical treatments. The therapist works either one to one or in a small group setting. It is a person-centred approach to health and well being, where yoga practices are carefully selected and individualised to meet a clients healthcare needs and objectives.

Is Yoga Therapy for me?

Yoga Therapy can be a short or long term option to help manage particular symptoms or illness, to support rehabilitation after an injury or medical treatment, or as a way of helping manage stress, anxiety, or sleep issues. These symptoms are usually inter-related and each persons experience of an illness is different.

Yoga Therapy is usually offered on a one to one basis, and you will be given a ‘yoga prescription’ so you can practice the tools at home.

If you are not sure if it is right for you, feel free message me and book a free 15 minute consultation.

What's happens at a Yoga Therapy appointment?

You will be asked to complete a short health form prior to your visit.

We will discuss what you would like to achieve through receiving yoga therapy, and I will carry out a ‘yoga assessment’ before putting together a suitable practice that we will practice during the session, and you can take away to use at home.

This may be a simple movement, breathing or relaxation practice for example, and all practices are tailored to your interests and ability depending on what goals you would like to work towards.

Experiences of Yoga & Yoga Therapy

This is what clients have shared about their experience of yoga classes or 1 to 1 yoga therapy

“Very enjoyable yoga classes led by Jackie, an intuitive, kind and progressive teacher”

~ Debbie E. Yoga Teacher & Psycotherapist

“I have known Jackie for a number of years and have attended both her brilliant yoga classes and  1-1 yoga therapy prior to having hip replacement surgery which following the operation the surgeon said had been of huge benefit in post surgery rehab.

I now go to Tuesday morning yoga at Ellingham which I guard preciously as ‘My time’ as it sets me up wonderfully for the week !!”
